To provide teens 13-16 years old, a more challenging and rewarding summer experience. These trainings will teach teens practical skills that will make them marketable for future employment. |

We will utilize Red Cross,YMCA and physical trainings coupled with hands on experience to educate your Teen. Our mature educated staff works closely with your future leader to instill the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in order to help set your child up for future success. |
Depending on your teen's age there are different programs that they can decide to take:
Red Cross Babysitter's Training:
June 28- July 9
Ages 13-15
Cost: $450
In this training participants will learn to and become certified to save lives. This includes Basic First Aid, CPR, Emergency Recognition and Danger Prevention. Each student will receive a Red Cross Babysitter's hand book and CDROM to work from as well as a certification card upon passing the skills and written components of the training. Once certified you will be an official babysitter and will be able to earn money throughout the year using your CDROM to create resumes and business cards in order to market your new skills. Participants will spend at least 2 hours a day in training and the rest of their time will be divided between lunches, swimming/boating, snacks and field sports where they will be assistants to the Day Camp Counselors.
Working with Kids/Behavior Management Training:
July 12-23
Ages 13-15
Cost $450
This component of the CIT program is geared mainly toward behavior management techniques and hands on working with kids. Participants will spend at least 1 hour a day in classroom training which will cover a variety of difficult camper behaviors and how to work with them in an appropriate and positive manner. They will also be learning to spot potential hazards for campers and fix them before they become a problem. The rest of their time will be devoted toward practicing the techniques they learn each day out in the field with real Day Campers.
Red Cross Lifeguard Training:
July 26 - Aug. 20 (4 weeks)
Age 15-16 only
Cost $1,000
Participants in this training must be strong swimmers as half of their training will take place in the lake. In this training teen's will lean to become professional rescuers mastering First Aid, CPR (infant, child, and adult) AED and Waterfront Lifeguarding. Half of the Camp day will be dedicated to Red Cross Training; classes, workshops, videos, skills and written tests, please note: there will be reading homework! The other half of their day will be spent working with Day Campers and Staff leading and assisting in various Camp activities throughout the day.
*Lunch, snack, Red Cross cards/ instruction& materials are included in the cost of these programs.
